Kozaks Come Out Strong

By Tim Roby

The first games for the Middle School boys, girls and Secondary boys’ games were this past week, with the Kozaks winning 5 out of the 6 games played as well as the Secondary girls’ first games which were this Monday. The Middle School boys’ teams played at PSI this past Tuesday, the 4th, for their first games. Both KIS teams came out on top with Team 1 winning 28 to 22 and Team 2 winning 16 to 2. Both teams fought hard and ended up getting both of the wins on the road.
Varsity Girls (Amber and Miranda) versus Ukr-141
On Wednesday the 5th, both the Secondary boys’ teams played their first games as well. JV played Ukr-70, the team who won the league last year. Even though they got some 20 points behind, they fought hard and in the last couple of minutes went on a run to bring it back to within 7 points for the final score of 49 to 42. After the JV game, the Varsity played their first game against PTU. The Kozaks came out strong, taking the lead first and kept the lead the entire game to win by 29 points in the end. The Middle School girls had their first games on Thursday the 6th and also won both of their games, the Red team beating KCA 43 to 18 and the Black team beating Ukr-141 22 to 14.
Lastly, the Secondary JV and Varsity girls also had their first games on Monday the 10th. JV was on the road against PSI and came out on top for their first win, 28 to 12. Varsity played at home versus Ukr-141 and even though they lost by about 20 points they fought hard throughout the game. Let’s hope they can continue bringing that same fighting spirit as they get prepared for their next game on Wednesday versus KCA.
