7 Billion

Overpopulation is one of the biggest problems of the 21st century that brings many negative affects on all aspects of Earth such as food security, wildlife habitat and many others. Many organizations are trying to take care of this problem, but there is one specific organization that dedicates its all towards the problem of overpopulation.

As Population Connections states itself Population Connection (formerly ZPG) is a national, nonprofit organization working to achieve a sustainable balance between the Earth's people and its resources. We seek to protect the environment and ensure a high quality of life for present and future generations.

This year Population Connection came up with a contest idea for students, to raise the awareness of the overpopulation. Students who wished to participate in the contest were required to make a 30-45 second video on one of the areas that is being influenced by overpopulation: wildlife habitat, food security, or the global status of women/girls. The purpose of the videos is to present the issue, so that it will be heard by the people. The winners in each of the areas will receive money prizes for the first three places.

These types of contests is a great way to show the younger generation what problems exist in today's world and let them explore, and present the awareness of the problem.

Media One students participated in the contest and recently submitted their videos. We wish good luck to all the participants, and those who didn't participate this year should definitely make the most of  this great opportunity next year..
